TBI Regional Resource Center

The TBI Regional Resource Center is funded through a grant from the NYS Department of Health. The Center provides information,advocacy,linkage and referrals for individuals with brain injuries and related conditions.

The Center works to provide a bridge from inpatient medical and rehabilitation services to community-based services and supports. The Center also works to support brain injury survivors in their communities.

Information, services, and supports are focused on creating a satisfying life for the brain injury survivor that is based upon personal choices and valued outcomes.

CAUSES OF BRAIN INJURY INCLUDE:

  • Motor Vehicle Accidents

  • Falls

  • Sports

  • Child Abuse

  • Domestic Violence

  • Assault

  • Substance Abuse

  • Bicycle Accidents

  • Stroke/Aneurysm

  • Accidental Poisoning

  • Illness (Meningitis)

EFFECTS OF BRAIN INJURY MAY INCLUDE:

  • Difficulties with Attention and or Concentration

  •  Short-term and or Long-term Memory Impairments

  • Difficulties with New Learning

  • Visual and or Auditory Disturbances

  • Difficulty Swallowing

  • Seizures

  • Fatigue

  • Language Processing Difficulties

  • Difficulities with Impulse Control

  • Difficulties with Problem-Solving

  • Difficulties with Social Behavior

  • Loss of Sense of Self

  • Depression

  • Sleep Disturbances
